Privacy Policy
Effective 29 October 2026
Veil is a macOS app that shows a full-screen reminder before your Google Calendar meetings. This policy explains what data Veil accesses, how it is used, and how you stay in control.
Data Veil accesses
When you connect a Google account, Veil asks for read-only access to Google Calendar (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.readonly). With it, Veil reads:
- Your list of calendars (names and IDs) and your primary calendar's ID, which is your email address and is used to label the account in the app.
- Events in the next 24 hours: title, start and end time, location, description, video conferencing details, attendee list and your own response status.
Veil cannot create, change or delete anything in your calendar.
How Veil uses this data
Only to provide the app's features on your Mac:
- Showing the reminder overlay with the meeting's title, time and number of attendees.
- Finding the meeting's video link (Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Webex and similar) so you can join in one click.
- Skipping events you declined, all-day events, and events marked as free.
- Showing your connected accounts, calendars and next meeting in the menu bar panel.
Storage
- Event data is held in memory while Veil runs and is never written to disk.
- Sign-in tokens (Google OAuth refresh tokens) are stored on your Mac in
~/Library/Application Support/Veil, in a file only your user account can read. - Preferences such as reminder timing and which calendars are enabled are stored in your Mac's standard app preferences.
None of this is sent to the developer or any third party.
Sharing
Veil does not sell, share, transfer or disclose your data to anyone. It does not use your data for advertising, analytics, or training machine learning or AI models. The only network requests Veil makes are to Google, to sign you in and to read your calendar.
Google API Services User Data Policy
Veil's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Your control and deletion
- Click Remove next to an account in Veil's menu bar panel to delete that account's sign-in token from your Mac.
- You can revoke Veil's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Deleting the app and the
~/Library/Application Support/Veilfolder removes everything Veil stored.
Children
Veil is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
